Village Welcomes Back Our Farmers Market
Residents visiting the area around Village Hall on Saturday mornings cannot miss noticing the buzz of activity in our south parking lot. From 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each Saturday until October 2nd, residents can brows through the market stalls offering fresh produce from Illinois, fresh fruits from Michigan, hanging baskets, bedding plants, and potted herbs from local nurseries, and gourmet cheese from Wisconsin. The aforementioned is only the beginning. There are bakery goods, gourmet vinegars, salad dressings, and salsa also available for purchase.
Over 1,500 – 2,000 patrons visited the market on the each Saturday last summer. Strawberries and other Michigan fruit should be arriving in mid-June. Illinois corn and tomatoes are scheduled to arrive to the market in July. Our new market manager, Donna Ondriska, will be offering cooking demonstrations this summer, educating everyone on the various ways of preparing the fresh produce.
