Water Reclamation Plant Three | Description |
Plant Three will serve development north of Interstate
80. It has been designed so that it can be easily expanded
as the area grows. The first phase is a small plant
which will start to serve the homes and businesses that
develop up there. You cannot build homes or businesses
until the infrastructure which serves them is in place.
Knowing that this area would grow when I355 was extended
down, the Village began planning how to serve the area
in the mid 1990's.
Due to the planning, we know how many people we will
ultimately serve and we have a good idea at what rate
the area will develop. The plant which is there now
will serve the first residents and it will be expanded
in stage as the area develops.
Like our other plant, Plant 3 will use a complex series
of physical and biological processes to clean the water
and produce a safe sludge which will be used as a crop
nutrient.
The plant has a permit to operate issued by the State
of Illinois which permits the amount of water we can
handle and sets stringent standards on the water which
we return to the nation's waterways. The water leaving
this plant will flow to Hickory creek and being its
journey to the Gulf of Mexico. The solids which come
into the plant will be separated the water processed,
into a crop nutrient which helps to grow feed corn
