Volunteer Opportunity!

Home Posted on March 11, 2026 | Last Updated on March 11, 2026

Have you ever noticed the volunteers in bright yellow vests helping at community events around New Lenox? Those volunteers are members of the Village’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and their role goes far beyond event assistance.

The New Lenox CERT program is currently accepting registrations for its upcoming volunteer training course, giving residents the opportunity to gain valuable emergency preparedness skills while serving their community.

CERT members receive specialized training designed to help them respond safely and effectively during emergencies and disasters. The course covers topics such as disaster preparedness, basic search and rescue, first aid, fire safety, and team-based emergency response. Volunteers learn how to assist their neighbors and support first responders when additional help is needed.

The training program is completely free and open to community members who are interested in learning new skills and making a positive impact in New Lenox. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to learn and serve.

Training Schedule
The upcoming training session begins Tuesday, April 7 and will be held at New Lenox Village Hall, 1 Veterans Parkway.

Classes will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. from April 7 through April 30. The program concludes with a graduation and final hands-on exercises on Saturday, May 2 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to assist during emergencies, support local response efforts, and help keep the community safe.

Residents interested in becoming part of this dedicated volunteer team are encouraged to sign up soon.
