For the past two years the Village of New Lenox and the New Lenox Safe Community Coalition have hosted “Your Light Still Shines,” in support of Overdose Awareness Day. This event has typically featured Narcan® training, informational tables, memorial tables, the HERO “Hidden in Plain Sight” trailer, medication takeback, and keynote speakers. However, with restrictions in place due to COVID-19, the event will be held virtually this year.

The Will County Division of Transportation is working on an intersection improvement project. Parker Road will be closed between RT 6 and Francis Road. The detour route(see attached plan) includes RT 6, Cedar Road and Francis Road. The County anticipates this work will take approximately 3 weeks, weather permitting.

In a Facebook video that was posted on Tuesday, August 25th, Mayor Baldermann discussed the mitigation measures that Governor Pritzker enacted for Will and Kankakee Counties on August 26th. In the Mayor's message he makes it clear that although he takes COVID-19 seriously, he does not believe that these additional restrictions are warranted.

The deadline for IL renters to apply for aid has been extended by one week according to Governor Pritzker.

Starting August 11th, Census takers will start going door to door to follow-up with households that have not responded to the 2020 Census. Census takers will be following all COVID-19 guidelines such as maintaining a minimum 6 feet, wearing masks, and will remain outside when conducting interviews.
