Activities and entertainment are planned all month long as part of Christmas in the Commons! Find details on some of our events and activities below.

Fire Pits

New in 2019!  Two fire pits will be set up for guests with lounge seating to provide a place to stop and get warm.  The fire pits will be located between the Village Hall and the New Lenox Public Library.  Be sure to stop by our heated tent and purchase a s'mores kit (courtesy of Teardrop Cafe), and prepare your treat by the fire!

Stuffed Animal Workshop (December 1, December 22)

Presented by Stuffed with Love

Join us in the Village Hall Community Room to build your own stuffed animal.  A variety of holiday- and winter-themed animals will be available for purchase, and the wonderful staff from Stuffed with Love will walk you through how to bring your new friend to life.
  • Medium (8") stuffing kit:  $12.00
  • Large (16") stuffing kit:  $15.00

Stuffing kits include your choice of animal, fluff, a wishing star, a magical butterfly, and a birth certificate.  Additional accessories are available including take-home houses, Santa hats, and holiday outfits.

Sales are cash only.

Craft Beer (December 7, December 14, December 21)

On Saturdays in December, Christmas in the Commons will feature craft beer sales from local breweries. Craft beer sales will take place in the heated tent located in front of the Village Hall.
  • December 7:  Arrowhead Ales, Hickory Creek Brewing Company, Trail's Edge Brewery, Tribes Beer Company

Holiday Sweets & Treats Sale (December 15)

Satisfy your sweet tooth cravings at our Holiday Sweets & Treats sale, featuring vendors specializing in mouth-watering goods. The Holiday Sweets & Treats sale will take place in the heated tent located in front of the Village Hall. Be sure to come ready for dessert!

Holiday Sweets & Treats vendors include Covered in Chocolate, Flat Bottom Pretzels, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Raffy's Candy Store.

Gingerbread Cookie Decorating (December 15)
Presented by TATES Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shop

Accompanying the Holiday Sweets & Treats sale will be a fun activity for children in the Village Hall Community Room. Guests can purchase a gingerbread cookie which will come with a kit full of fun and festive sweets to adorn your cookie with.

On select dates, your favorite princesses and holiday characters will be joining us for photos.

Children's Crafts

On select dates, free crafts will be available for children in the Village Hall Community Room.

On December 8, children can join us to create snowman decorations, including a tea light snowman ornament and a clothespin snowman friend. On December 14, children will find the supplies for Christmas tree ornaments in the Community Room. We'll be making ornaments using craft sticks, pipe cleaners, and jingle bells. Finally, join us December 21 when we'll be making jingle bell necklaces and bracelets.

All of these activities are free, and we will have helpers on hand to distribute supplies and give a quick tutorial on how to put together these fun crafts!
