The Village of New Lenox maintains a building inspection program to insure that all construction activities conform to minimum standards to protect health, safety, and welfare of Village residents.

A structural building permit must be obtained for any construction or remodeling activities that involve the construction or alteration of any structural component of a building.

It is also necessary to obtain a permit for all of the following construction activities:

• Room Additions
• Garages
• Utility Buildings
• Decks
• Porches
• Swimming Pools
• Fences
• Signs

These are just a few of the items that require a building permit. Please contact the building department. to verify whether or not a permit is necessary prior to any construction beginning.

The Village of New Lenox does enforce a property maintenance code that establishes minimum standards for the maintenance of all residential property.
